Overview
For this project, our team developed a premium oil mister designed to produce a controlled, even spray of herb-infused oils. The client wanted a more sophisticated alternative to conventional pour or pump bottles, with an emphasis on precision, cleanliness, and easy use. We created a system that built internal pressure through a few button presses and released a smooth, continuous oil mist. The final design combined elegant, premium aesthetics with reliable functionality, resulting in a refined and user-friendly solution.
Methodology
We evaluated different dispensing methods, including aerosol propellants and pre-pressurised containers, before deciding on a mechanical pressure system. This system was not only cost-effective, but also designed to meet the client’s wish to keep the oil visible in the bottle, showcasing the product. Our team worked with manufacturers to develop a thicker, perfume-style bottle and injection-moulded components with precise internal geometry, creating a reliable twisting and pumping mechanism. Throughout development, we tested prototypes and made iterative improvements to ensure manufacturability and a premium user experience.
Results Discussion
The oil mister successfully delivered a smooth, even spray while keeping the nozzle clean between uses. The project showed how combining practical engineering, thoughtful design, and close collaboration with manufacturers can create a polished, consumer-ready product. It emphasised the value of blending usability with style and demonstrated how innovative mechanical design can elevate everyday kitchen tools.
